Pipeline Welding

Orbital and manual TIG for cross-country, subsea, and process pipelines.

Pipeline Welding
Overview

TIP TIG in the
Pipeline Welding

Pipeline welding must work reliably in remote, harsh conditions — and meet strict codes. Cross-country lines, subsea tiebacks, or CRA-lined process pipe: TIP TIG delivers consistent, code-compliant results. Orbital and portable manual systems available. Proven on carbon steel, duplex, super duplex, and clad pipe worldwide.

Key Advantages

Why TIP TIG

01

Orbital Pipeline Systems

Automated orbital heads with TIP TIG wire feed. Consistent, high-quality circumferential welds.

02

CRA & Clad Pipe Expertise

Proven on CRA-lined and clad pipe. Keeps overlay integrity with minimal dilution.

03

Field-Ready Portability

Compact, rugged systems built for remote sites. Arctic tundra to desert.

04

All-Position Capability

Full 5G and 6G welding for fixed-position tie-ins and repairs.

05

Reduced Repair Rates

Higher first-pass acceptance means fewer cut-outs. Critical when rework costs are per joint.

06

API & ASME Compliance

Meets API 1104, ASME B31.3, and other pipeline codes operators require worldwide.

Panyu Offshore Pipeline — 273 mm Orbital on Pipelay Vessel

CNOOC's Panyu offshore project in the South China Sea required Inconel 625 CRA pipe in three sizes: 168 mm, 203 mm, and 273 mm. TIP TIG Orbital with ILUC internal line-up clamp welded all joints fully automated on the pipelay vessel. Result: 100% X-ray pass rate, 3x faster weld cycles, and 40% cost savings vs. conventional TIG.
